People in the game of negotiations between representative groups or nations may believe that the key to embassies and legations is diplomacy. Usually this refers to international diplomacy. Embassies and legations may be diplomats concerning issues of peacemaking, culture, economics, trade and war. Treaties may also be a subject the diplomats negotiate before being endorsed by the national politicians. Embassies and legations might be applying diplomacy of tact to gain strategic advantage, the phrasing of statements in a non-confrontational or social manner. Embassies and legations may be representatives for their country or nation at the United States or other country they are not native.
